commonplace^™ is a private image archive, founded in 2026 as a means for designers to organize and navigate their personal research libraries. It treats a collection of images not as a single stream but as a set of overlapping thematic territories. Each image is catalogued as it arrives, so that hundreds or thousands of references can be retrieved in seconds and browsed for the unexpected connections that inform new work. Descriptors can be added or refined at any time, while projects, both ongoing and complete, can retain the references that shaped them. Each library remains entirely personal, belonging to the person who builds it.
